Dr. Joseph N. Jackson, Ph.D.
Visionary inventor, U.S. Army veteran, and founder of FemChoice Technologies - dedicated to empowering young women through education and technology.
A Legacy of Empowerment
"Dr. Joseph N. Jackson patented the first programmable TV controller with content-blocking technology, a direct forerunner to the V-Chip that gave parents the power to screen television for their families."
Born in Harvey, Louisiana, Dr. Jackson's journey began when he joined the United States Army at age 18. Serving from 1956-1971 with two tours in Korea, he developed a passion for technology while attending television repair school at night near Fort Bragg.
His technical expertise led to groundbreaking innovations in television technology, including the precursor to the V-Chip - technology still used today to help parents control what their children watch on television. This early success in protecting children would foreshadow his later work with FemChoice.
After founding Protelcon, Inc. in 1993 to market the TeleCommander (the first empowerment television accessory), Dr. Jackson was called upon by network television executives to testify before Congress about technical solutions to television violence, demonstrating his lifelong commitment to child protection.
